More than 100,000 digital subs suggests that the paywall is going well. As another commentator mentions, this is a) faster than the WSJ and b) is a little to vague to know how good it really is (will sub $1 convert to full price?).

It still doesn’t make sense to me that you can pay more for an electronic subscription than a hard copy one. We’ve just switched to a weekend-only hard copy sub to the SCMP with digital access (c. £90/year) thanks to the vast amount of paper we were recycling.

In other commentary, how about the contention that most newspapers should close to allow the remaining ones to fund real (they say investigative) journalism rather than schelebrity churnalism.
