Fantastic chart and audio guide from NY Times showing quite how close the times were on the Winter Olympics skiing, sliding and skating events. I find it astonishing that there is so much consistency in who wins over the year given the minuscule gaps between athletes at the finishing line. I guess the fact that the time differences are so similar in the sliding, skiing and skating events just shows how the event rules have been tuned over time to offer exciting contests.
