It is one of the infuriating OSX things that there is no keyboard shortcut for restoring windows that you have minimised to the dock. There are some workarounds though.

Seeing Stars With Thunderbird is exactly what the doctor ordered – I can now see starred items only in a custom view. Who knew that starred was a status just like read or replied? Well, I do now.
