Cobian Backup

Cobian Backup looks like it might be the thing I need to automatically back up my laptop to my portable hard drive. It does open files using volume shadow copy which is very important for me.

PDF Toolkit

Pdftk is a free PDF maker, splitter, joiner. There’s a graphical front end for it that is cryptic but functional. CutePDF appears to create good looking PDF files, and is also free in its basic incarnation.

SystemRescueCd

SystemRescueCd seemed to work quite effectively in helping get information off a crashed Vista installation. It took me ages to work out what to do, heaven help anyone who has never heard of mounting a filesystem. Works nicely as a bootable CD.

Hosted Weave sync

I really like the way that Weave syncs Firefox (browsing history, passwords, cookies, etc) between multiple machines (Mac, PC, Work, Home), but it has been flakey and I haven’t been able to get it working on my own WebDAV on my raggett.net site. So instead,...
